What a great idea for an award. Super to see books that have proven themselves with the kids being recognised in this way.
Hats off to the organisers I say.

Spot on Kate. My kids, now left home, read this book about 10 years ago and loved it. I still remember their enthusiasm for it.
So good on the Storylines people for this award. And thank you for the memories.

Storylines used to be called the Children's Literature Foundation and have administered awards like this one, the Margaret Mahy Award and the Joy Cowley Award for many years. Very well known for the Storylines Festival in June each year, highlights include the Free Family Days in Auckland, Wellington & New Plymouth. If you want to keep up with what's happening in the children's book world in NZ this is a great group to join. Cheap too, you get newlsetters & booklists, membership $35 a year.
