THE WOMEN'S DAILY IRONY SUPPLEMENT
Judy Gruen - Creative Minds Press - US $14.95
We had a special roast dinner over the past weekend to mark the winter solstice and between the main course and dessert I read aloud to our guests two excerpts from this very funny book, a review copy of which reached me on Thursday. We all laughed so much we were almost in stitches.
Judy Gruen is an award-winning humorist, (why am I not surprised?), columnist and author. This is her third book with the other two also having zany titles; Carpool Tunnel Syndrome: Motherhood as Shuttle Diplomacy and Till We Eat Again: Confessions of a Diet Dropout.
Los Angeles-based Gruen has crafted a career of writing sophisticated, relatable yet clean humor, which has earned her a loyal following of thousands of readers for her Web-based column “Off My Noodle,” published on www.judygruen.com.
In this new book she deals with the trials and the joys of family life in the suburbs, having renovations done to your home, unwanted e-mails, semi-realstic New Year's goals, the plage of the school science fair, J.K.Rowling, Oprah, head lice, bikinis, chocolate truffles, and a host of other stuff, all guaranteed to make you laugh.
The book has it's own web page which you can read here.
Creative Minds Press is an imprint of the small Nevada publishing company, Beagle Bay, whose website is here.
