2017 BOLOGNARAGAZZI AWARDS

Fiction, Non-Fiction, New Horizons, Opera Prima
It was great to see that there were so many entries this year : 1354 books from over 42 countries.
The four traditional categories were judged by a prestigious international jury of Marwa Obaid Rashid Al Aqroubi, Julia Eccleshare, Paula Jarrin, Guido Scarabottolo and Tomáš Klepoch – who met on the 10th and 11th of February at the BolognaFiere offices.
Special Section Children’s Book on Art
Art books for children: the special category of BRAW 2017, looks at titles published in the last decade by the exhibitors of BCBF on the discovery of art, its history, and its present. This award category highlights the attention and commitment that many publishers around the world have placed in this kind of books. Art is universal, and the children's publishing industry has the great honour of protecting, preserving, spreading the knowledge of the artistic heritage of humanity.
Special Section Books & Seeds
The Bologna Children's Book Fair in collaboration with FICO Eataly World has decided to make permanent the Books & Seeds category. Originally, a special section of the prize presented in 2015 on the occasion of Expo Milano, it recognizes excellence in international publishing for books devoted to natural world and biodiversity. It will also establish a large library for young readers from around the world who can then come to Bologna and visit a large theme park dedicated to the culture of food too. The park will open its doors to the public this Autumn.Discover the winner of the 2017 Books & Seeds Prize

JURIES
For all of us at the Bologna Children's Book Fair this special time was full of emotion and adrenaline, particularly for the jurors who had the difficult task of selecting the winners and honourable mentions and had to “fly around the world” of tables filled with many books and diverse cultures.

Check out this photo gallery that captures some of the most important moments of the selection process

We asked members of the three juries to talk about their BRAW experience and tell us about the books that they remember most from their own childhoods.Come and meet them
